We’re announcing a premiere of un-becoming , reworked with the Belgrade Dance Institute students. Come see the performance on 18th of April @ 20:00 in VUK Theatre in Belgrade.
This very technically demanding choreography presents an internal journey, the process of becoming and stripping oneself from normative layers of socially constructed identity. An expression of the journey, showing the permanent liminal state, the future imperfect time, is an expression of the deconstruction and re-construction of the self.
Un-becoming had its premiere in 2017 in Poznań. The performance was originally created for the Contemporary Dance School of Natalia Draganik-Franke and was presented twice on the Joint Stage in Poznań. The opening of the show is supported by the Embassy of Poland in Belgrade.
Maciej Kuźmiński is one of the first teachers who started cooperation with IUI – the Belgrade Institute of Dance since its inception in 2014. Institut for Umetnićku Igru is the first and only institution in Serbia offering education in the field of contemporary dance at a higher level. un-becoming is the second diploma performance for IUI of this creator. The first – Hotel Excelsior based on the works of the well-known writer Branislav Nušić – premiered in 2017.
