This past Monday saw the beginning of rehearsals for TWOOLS, a new production developed at Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, one of Holland’s most famous dance theatres. The piece will premiere on 6 June 2018.
Maciej Kuźmiński was invited to collaborate with the company following his success at the 30th edition of the prestigious International Competition for Choreographers in Hannover, where he received the 2ndprize for his choreography of Dominique.
Each year, TWOOLS invites six selected choreographers to develop10-20 minute-long pieces. The 18th edition of the project will showcase the work of Joeri Dubbe, Fang-Yu Shen, Ryan Djojokarso, Maciej Kuźminski, Miquel G. Font and Marcos Morau.
Scapino Ballet Rotterdam was established in1945 by Hans Snoek and to this day remains one of Holland’s foremost ballet companies. The high quality of its performances, along with the long-standing traditions of the company and its numerous collaborations with up-and-coming choreographers, have translated into its unique style. The current Artistic Director of Scapino is Ed Wubbe. The company has collaborated with the Polish choreographer Krzysztof Pastor.
